Why it costs this

Three parts, and they all come back to Google.

A site that ranks costs more than a Wix site. Here's why.

  1. 01

    The site (the foundation)

    from $2,500

A fast, custom-coded site on a platform Google rewards by default: quick to load, easy for Google to read, and built properly on phones.

Moving off Wix or a slow WordPress theme on its own can improve how Google sees you. This is the floor, not the ceiling.

  2. 02

The words (where ranking comes from)

    most sites land at $4,500–$5,000

The headline at the top of each page (called the H1) and the headings under it are the strongest signals you send Google about what that page is for.

Writing them well means researching what your customers actually type into Google, and what the businesses ranking above you are doing. That research and writing is the difference between the two main tiers.

On Essentials, you write the words yourself. On Business, we research and write them, and you approve them.

  3. 03

The climb (winning a specific search)

    optional, from $500/month

Being first for a search depends on how hard that search is to win. SEO tools score this as keyword difficulty: roughly, how strong the sites already ranking for it are.

Climbing takes ongoing work, and Google takes weeks to months to notice changes, so the minimum is 3 months. Most clients land at $1,000/month. After the minimum it's month to month.

You can start right after launch, months later, or never. It's your call.

The words

What "you bring the words" means.

Every page has one main headline at the top. In the code it's called the H1, and it's the strongest hint you give Google about what that page is for. The smaller headings under it come next.

On Essentials, you write those headlines and the text under them. On Business, we look up what your customers type into Google first, then write them for you.

Right: the H1 on a site we built for Flamingo Express Car Wash in Winnipeg reads "The Monthly Wash Club is here."

Flamingo Express Car Wash homepage, with its main headline highlighted
The H1 on flamingoexpress.ca

Illustrative example: a made-up Steinbach plumber, not a client

Generic H1

"Welcome to Our Website"

Tells Google nothing about what you do or where.
Researched H1

"Emergency Plumber in Steinbach, Open 24/7"

Matches the words people type when their basement is flooding.
The details

What moves the price.

  • Number of pages

Each tier covers a set number of pages. Extra pages are $250 on Essentials and $350 on Business, words included.

  • Who writes the words

The biggest single difference. Researching and writing every page is most of the gap between Essentials and Business.

  • Features

Booking, an online store, listings, client logins and connections to other software each add build time.

  • Moving your old content

Bringing over dozens of old pages, posts or products, and redirecting their old addresses so you keep what Google already knows, takes time.

  • Design complexity

Custom animation, illustration or an unusual layout costs more than a clean, fast standard layout.

What it costs after launch.

  • $45/month

    Hosting, on every site

Covers keeping the site online, security updates, uptime monitoring, the SSL certificate (the padlock in the address bar) and a backup of every version of your site's code. No plugin fees and no page-builder subscription on top. Wix and Squarespace also charge monthly to run a site on your own domain (see their Wix and Squarespace plan pages).

  • from $500/month

SEO, only if you want it

Most clients land at $1,000/month. 3-month minimum, then month to month. Start right after launch or months later.

  • Included

    3 months of support

Fixes and small edits after launch, so you're not on your own the week you go live.

What's not included.

  • Professional photography. We can recommend local photographers.
  • Logo and branding, unless it's in your quote.
  • Third-party integrations not listed in your proposal, such as dealership inventory feeds (autoTRADER, DealerSocket).
  • Fees charged by other companies, like your domain name, email or a payment processor.
FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

These come straight from emails with people weighing up a move off Wix. If yours isn't here, call or send it over and we'll answer it plainly.

  1. Is it all paid upfront?

No. 50% to start, 50% at launch. Ongoing SEO is billed monthly, and only if you choose it.

  2. What does "you bring the words" mean?

On Essentials, you write the text that goes on each page: what you do, who you serve, your services, your story. We tidy it up for clarity and set up the technical SEO (page titles, search descriptions, the labels Google reads), but we don't research which searches to target. On Business, we do that research and write every page for you. You just review and approve.

  3. Why does it cost more when you write the words?

Because the words are where ranking comes from. Before writing, we research what your customers actually type into Google and what the businesses ranking above you are doing, then write each page's headline and headings around it. That research and writing is most of the difference between $2,500 and $4,500–$5,000.

  4. If I move off Wix, will I rank #1?

Nobody can promise that, and you should be wary of anyone who does. A fast, well-built site with researched words sets you up to rank better than you do now. Getting to the top for a competitive search takes ongoing SEO work on top of that, and Google takes weeks to months to respond.

  5. How long does it take?

Most builds take 4–8 weeks, depending on features. A small Essentials site can be faster. The clock runs once we have your words, images and feedback, and late content is the most common cause of delay.

  6. Are there monthly fees?

Hosting is $45/month on every site. It covers keeping the site online, security updates, uptime monitoring, the SSL certificate (the padlock in the address bar) and a backup of every version of your site's code. SEO is from $500/month, only if you choose it, with a 3-month minimum and month to month after that.

  7. I have a smaller budget. What can I do?

Tell us your number. Essentials starts at $2,500 if you're happy to write the words yourself, and we can phase a bigger build: launch the core pages now and add the rest later. We'll tell you honestly what fits.

  8. Can I update the site myself?

Yes, on every tier. The content editor lets you change the text and images on your existing pages whenever you like, the way you would on Wix. New pages and layout changes are done by us, so the design and the SEO structure stay intact: extra pages are $250 on Essentials and $350 on Business, and anything else is quoted up front.

  9. Do I own it?

Yes. The code, the content and the domain are yours. If you ever want to move it somewhere else, we hand it over. While we host it, the $45/month hosting fee covers keeping the site online, security updates, uptime monitoring, the SSL certificate (the padlock in the address bar) and a backup of every version of your site's code.

  10. What happens after launch?

Every build includes 3 months of support for fixes and small edits. After that it's just hosting at $45/month, plus SEO if you want to keep climbing.
